A great day for Nexcelle and the C919 program
May 5, 2017
Today marked a tremendous milestone for Nexcelle, as our C919 nacelle system demonstrated its capabilities from the very first flight of this new Chinese-built jetliner.
With this historic event, I want to thank the teams from our parent companies – Safran Nacelles and GE Aviation’s Middle River Aircraft Systems – for their tremendous efforts and perseverance in delivering a very high-tech nacelle system that is state-of-the-art.
Congratulations also go out to the C919’s manufacturer, COMAC; as well as our direct customer, CFM International, who we’ve worked with side-by-side in developing the LEAP-1C turbofan jet engine as a truly integrated propulsion system.
Today’s accomplishment was even more satisfying as Chinese television’s live broadcast of the first flight showed our thrust reverser in action to a worldwide audience, with its innovative O-Duct being deployed upon the C919’s touchdown at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
Nexcelle’s commitment to the C919 program will continue, with the focus on supporting flight tests and preparations for the airliner’s industrialization.
