As an avid heli-skiier, and the new Executive Vice President at Nexcelle from GE Aviation, André Robert appreciates the value of exploration and conquering new challenges.
Robert began skiing as a child growing up in Montréal. Unlike most Canadian children who are drawn to the hockey rink, he was always attracted to the most difficult ski slopes around North America. His passion for reaching new heights helped him develop a determined approach to tackling complex issues while at GE Aviation.
Robert also has used his passion for skiing to explore the world and connect with his family. “A few years ago, I had the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream of heli-skiing with my son in the Canadian Rockies and it was truly an outstanding opportunity for us to bond,” he said.
His career at GE has provided management experience in both the commercial and business aviation segments for Robert, with previous assignments including: the GE Aviation on-site customer account executive at Canada’s Bombardier Commercial and Business Aircraft units; GE Aviation’s marketing leader for regional aviation, and the on-site project manager at Bombardier for the GE Aviation CF34-8C turbofan engine development program.
He previously was an engineering project manager at Bell Helicopter Textron and program manager for medium helicopters, and served as an aircraft maintenance officer in the Canadian Armed Forces.
With Robert’s new Executive Vice President role, he is tasked with coordinating the Nexcelle parent companies’ activities as they ramp up the joint venture’s nacelle system products and bring them to market.
His first impression of Nexcelle is a positive one. “Nexcelle has gained significant maturity in a short space of time,” explained Robert. “We are working extremely hard to bring products to market that exceeds the needs and expectations of both the aircraft manufacturers and the end users.”
Robert knows that the task of creating a new generation of nacelle systems is a challenge, but as an avid heli-skier he knows that challenges are part of the job. “It’s what makes this work so exciting!”
